Amalfi Cathedral
1. Saint Andrew's Cathedral
You must have seen at least once in pictures what is probably the most famous church on the Amalfi Coast: it is the Amalfi Cathedral! Built in neo-Moorish style, it is accessed by an imposing staircase and a loggia of intertwined arches. Admire it from the square: it is truly a vision of great beauty!

2. The Cathedral Square
The square overlooked by the Amalfi Cathedral is iconic: surrounded by artisan stores, restaurants and pastry shops, it is the nerve center of the town. My advice is simple: sit at a bar, order something yummy and...enjoy the atmosphere!

3. Saint Andrew's Fountain
Right in the center of Piazza Duomo is a sculpture much loved by the people of Amalfi: it is the Fountain of St. Andrew, dedicated to the city's patron saint. Made of Carrara marble, it was built in 1760 and depicts the figure of the saint surrounded by angels, a dove and a sea deity called “Pulicano,” in honor of an Amalfi fisherman.

4. Pansa Pastry Shop
Opposite the Duomo is a really must-see place for all sweet tooths: this is the world-famous Pansa pastry shop! Stop here if you want to enjoy a unique delizia al limone: it is an unmissable experience in Amalfi!

5. The "Cap e Ciuccio" fountain
Let's move from the square and walk up Amalfi's main street. At a certain point, on your right, you will see a very peculiar fountain peeking out, in which water comes out of the mouths of two marble heads. The most peculiar aspect, however, is the nativity scene in the center, surrounded by water. Throw a coin inside: they say it brings good luck!

6. Amalfi Marina
A short walk from the historic center is Marina Grande: its pebble beach is one of the best even for families with children, as I explained in this article. In addition, the sea is crystal clear and from there you will have a spectacular view of the colorful little houses around you.

7. The Arsenal of the ancient Amalfi Republic
Near the Port of Amalfi is one of the most important traces of the town's Maritime Republic past, namely the Ancient Arsenal. In medieval times it was a shipyard made entirely of stone; today it is home to exhibitions and houses the Compass Museum. A stop not to be missed to understand Amalfi's importance to the Coast!

8. The Paper Museum
Amalfi is famous not only for having been a Maritime Republic, but also for the production of paper. During your visit you surely will come across artisan stores selling all kind of items made of this magnificent thick and valuable paper; if you want to learn more about it, you definitely cannot miss a stop at the Paper Museum!

9. The monumental Cemetery
If you look at Amalfi from the waterfront, you will be struck by the sight of an imposing tuff colonnade located in the middle of a green area. It is the Monumental Cemetery! I recommend that you don't miss it: not only is it an interesting place with a long history (in fact, it dates back to the Middle Ages), but from its Belvedere, dedicated to San Lorenzo, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the town.
